We took this trip as part of our anniversary celebrations and it didn’t disappoint. Embarkation at Southampton was extremely smooth with the time taken from train station to cabin just over half an hour. Our first meal in the buffet restaurant was OK although getting a table was more difficult than usual as its the only facility open on embarkation day. We had been recommended the Britannia Club level by friends and this proved to be a very wise choice as the dining area was intimate and we could dine whenever we wanted. All the staff were extremely good and the level of service exemplary. We ate in the Britannia Club most of the time although we did try the Pub as well. The food in both was good rather than exceptional and probably not quite up to the anticipated 5 star standard. Speaking to other passengers who were frequent travellers on this ship there has been a slight decline in standard over the years. We thoroughly enjoyed many of the presentations on varied subjects as well. The nature of the trip and the entrance into New York harbour at dawn made up for any slight deficiencies. All in all a great trip on a good ship well worth doing.
Our cabin was high amidships and was quite good for space and amenity.
