Originally chose this cruise because it was RCI's 50th Anniversary Cruise and it did not disappoint. The CEO, President and many of his staff were on board and we all had a great time. The theme was 50 Bold and there were freebees in the room most nights including logo towels, logo blankets, logo picture frames, logo expandable travel bags, history of onboard entertainment book, hardback book about the history of food onboard, 50th Anniversary pins, and we were treated to a President's reception in the theater, C&A reception in the Aquatheater, Cruise Critic reception, Visa cardholder reception (easily a $1M event), Gold night with a massive cake and balloon drop, a Phoenix concert, a Hall & Oats Concert, free beverage service w/free 50th Anniversary drink mugs, a fruit plate, chocolate strawberries and chocolate-chip cookies in the room, and a coupon book that was amazing too. Yes, we are Diamond-Plus, Cruise Critic, and once were Visa cardholder's so were not sure which benefit went with each of those, but all I can say is AMAZING. We were very spoiled and will always be 'Loyal to Royal.'
The Aqua-theater was by far the blow-away experience of the trip. It's a Cirque-du-Soleil level quality of show with synchronized swimmers, high-divers, high-wire walkers, wire lifted sky-walkers, dancers, and synchronized water jets, music and lights. Just an awesome experience.
Our cabin, 12-329, actually faced into the Boardwalk heading to the back of the boat and was a great vantage point overlooking the Aquatheater. It was a very comfortable room and a really nice sized balcony. We enjoyed watching the Aquatheater Phoenix concert while watching a Football game on our own TV. We had breakfast delivered each morning and enjoyed coffee and pastries out on the deck. The cabin is located under a 15th floor cross-over structure that blocks almost all direct sunlight but we really enjoyed the shade it provided while enjoying the sunlight. There are two columns that support slides that go down there, but the view off the back of the ship was still spectacular.
