We had never seen the Panama Canal and this time worked well with our schedule. The shipboard entertainment in the evening was varied and of good quality. We particularly enjoyed the violinist and piano duo of Consonance and the choice of comedians, musicians and singers were excellent for such a small ship. The food was very good at all meals and at times excellent. The excursions were a mixed bag with some being excellent and good value to others being overpriced and tedious. We particularly did not enjoy the Panama Canal Railway and New Locks of the Canal. The train ride was not very scenic, the snack food supplied on board was poor and the new locks may have been ok if you were not experiencing the locks firsthand which we did the next day. It was a long ride back to the ship and a poor quality sandwich was supplied. Most people on the excursion felt the same. A Walk in the Clouds was also a long roundtrip in Costa Rica and not a particularly good walk through the forest. The Granada Carriage Ride and Boat Tour in Guatemala was terrific and we had a very informative guide, Juan, who was excellent and extremely knowledgeable. Both the carriage and boat ride were interesting and the bus we were on was the most spacious and comfortable of all the trips we took. Princess should really due more due diligence in choosing these buses; great for smaller South Americans but not so much for the more full figured North Americans! The service and friendliness of the crew was exemplary and they worked hard to ensure we were satisfied.
Cabin was small but extremely clean during our stay. Nice flat screen tv and two changes of towels each day. Turndown service at night was a nice touch as was the chocolates on our pillow.
Great bus, guide and tour. Very interesting boat tour!
We dd not enjoy the Panama Canal Railway or the the New Locks of the Cnal Expansion. Too long a trip with little to see on the train.
