Our recent trip aboard NCL Joy was a horrible disappointment. Getting onboarding was a disorganized mess with long lines and no one to communicate what was going on. Then we find out that the ship had the Norovirus. The ship was constantly being cleaned. Our room steward was hard to get a hold of and didn't answer the phone. Our toilet went out and once fixed had a horrible odor the entire trip. The food was mediocre and the service was slow in the dining rooms. The shows were good, but if you didn't booked reservations before you boarded, you couldn't see it. So much for freestyling. They announced activities in the newsletter that were a misprint or cancelled. If you weren't in the Haven, your menu options were limited. Carnival's regular menu was much better. Most people get to enjoy one vacation a year and we felt that we were being nickle and dined at every turn. If you didn't spend extra on speciality dining, your meals were suboptimal. The service was also very slow. It was not a Joy sailing on the Joy at all.
The cabin was nice, but our toilet went out on day two. It took 2 hours for someone to fix it. For the remainder of the cruise it had a foul odor. We couldn't get room service and no one answered the phone when we tried to call. The balcony was the only saving grace.
