Departure city: Tampa We did not explore Tampa at all. The embarkation experience was the worst we have ever experienced. We stood in line for almost 4 hours, and by standing in line I mean that at times we were standing in the street with traffic and trolleys inches away from us. NCL never made any attempt to explain what was going on, or even have basic safety in place. The police eventually showed up. Nobody knows what happened, the staff inside the terminal were all telling different stories, so we were being actively lied to. Rumors included human trafficking, software failures, late arrival, etc. We will probably never consider another Tampa itinerary based on this. Ship: The ship was in fairly good shape. There is a weird shortage of pools on board. Dining: Main dining room (both Venetian and Aqua) had excellent staff and service. The only bad service experience was Cangey's (the entire waitstaff actually disappeared for half an hour!). Le Bistro's food was excellent, but the food was absolutely awful and at times inedible in Cagneys and Moderno. Almost every cut of meat in Moderno was overcooked. I have only sent food back to a kitchen once before in my life, but Cagney's did so for the second time ever. The "bisque" was an inedible sauce that was identical to the pasta "sauce" they served in the main dining room over the ravioli. The desserts were even awful. To make dining matters worse, the reservation system was a complete joke. I can't tell you how many times we were told a venue was "sold out" just to see it completely empty. They were trying to force people into the less attended restaurants to use the dining package. The last night of the cruise at Le Bistro was "sold out", but it was less than 25% filled when we were there. This whole dining thing started to feel more like a scam. We have used the specialty dining extensively on other ships, but the Dawn was awful (save for Le Bistro). Cabin: Our cabin steward and another steward were mocking guests in the hallway. Ours also tried to tell us that the beds couldn't be pushed together (they could, he just by his own admission didn't want to because it "made it harder to make the beds").

Some fabulous staff, but some real issues too

Departure city: Tampa

We did not explore Tampa at all. Ship:

The ship was in fairly good shape. There is a weird shortage of pools on board.

Dining:

Main dining room (both Venetian and Aqua) had excellent staff and service. The only bad service experience was Cangey's (the entire waitstaff actually disappeared for half an hour!). Le Bistro's food was excellent, but the food was absolutely awful and at times inedible in Cagneys and Moderno. Almost every cut of meat in Moderno was overcooked.
