Before we even left, the private island was cancelled and replaced with a second Mexico stop. Not major but kids were excited for the private island.
Embarkation was the same as every cruise we’ve ever taken out of Miami.
Days at sea lacked activities. Typically other lines you have to pick and choose activities throughout the day to keep the kids busy. MSC offered very little.
Kids club was worst of any ship we’ve been on. Small space overwhelmed. No security. We walked kids in and took them out without any scanning.
Indoor gym was nice but usually taken up by kids club activities or yoga. When we did use it there were too many people and saw multiple kids get hit in the face by others. Wouldn’t let my kids in there alone.
Game room was 6 video games all too mature for my 6 & 8 year old. Too expensive and no card / bulk deal. And a couple of those claw machine type games. And air hockey. Bowling is fun though. $25/half-hour.
Food was fine. Average.
Premium drinks package got us drinks up to $12. Basically everything we wanted. Grey goose, woodford, Mcallen 12. Included cappuccino from the various coffee spots. Did NOT include gelato. Ice cream on board that was free was macadamia nut, pistachio or lemon. Major fail for the kids. Really...no vanilla or chocolate?
Then there is the waiver. Massive ship. One employee taking waivers to use the water slide or ropes course. I waited for two hours on the sea day to get them filled out. Easily an online pre-departure form. Everyone on line was fuming.
Shows were fine. Cirque was unique at sea but way worse that the land based versions. More like a Cirque-Lite show.
Nice and clean ship. Central plaza well laid out. Excursions were well organized.
Do not take this ship if you have kids. They’ll be bored.
