American Cemetary in Normandy

We wanted to try a river cruise AND enjoy a little time in Paris prior to sailing. The fact that itinerary included the opportunity to go to the beaches of Normandy was also a big decision point for us. During the tenure of this cruise we were able to walk in the footsteps of Joan of Arc, Richard the Lionhearted, Claude Monet and the greatest hero’s of WWII. To experience all that in one trip was an awesome and very emotional experience. Viking made it happen. It’s great to travel Viking where you don’t constantly get reminded of the “extra package” you didn’t pay for. Everything is pretty much included. The accommodations are first rate and staff and crew are exceptional. We really liked that the boat docks right in a village or town. If you don’t want to go on excursion you can spend the day wandering around the town on your own. No huge Cruise Ship crowds to contend with. Very nice way to travel.

Cabin Review

Veranda Stateroom

A bit tight but hey, it’s a boat. Very comfortable bed, plenty of outlets for charging phones. Only weird thing is if you open the windows the heater or AC kicks in big time and there is no way to shut it off. Keep your windows closed.

Port Reviews

Rouen

Great place to just explore on your own. It was nice to just take our time and enjoy the architecture and ambiance at our own pace.
