My brother and sister in law won a cruise each. So we teamed up and went with them. Not free for us but pretty good. We had been on the Dawn 5 or 6 times before with a great experience each time. To start off the gangway machine was broken so we sat around in the NY terminal with no one explaining anything. We wound up going in on deck 4 instead of the Atrium Deck 7. Over 2 hours waiting to get on board or have someone explain what was up. Finally got on the ship. This time they seemed understaffed. Usually you go sit around the pool and have the waiters swarm and ask you over and over if you want a drink. This time crickets! No waiters at all. We got to the room and went to put our passports in the safe. the safe displayed an error. Called the service desk and they asked if the safe was white. I said yes and they said the white ones don't work. OK. The AC was stuck on in the room and no lie it was about 50 degrees all week. My wife went to sleep with 2 extra blankets and a hooded sweatshirt. The weather was bad after the first 1/2 day. Not Norweigen's fault, just another bad omen. Repair crews were everywhere fixing leaky ceilings. And for the first time the whole crew had a survival drill at sea. 45 minutes of them launching life boats and blocking walkways. Weird! Just glad we made it back OK. We will not do the dawn again, but will use Norweigen as we feel they are the best as far as value and cruise quality overall.
Standard cabin quality. No problem with that. However the AC was stuck on all week, and safe did not work.
Waited for hours with no explanation.
Nice area. Always a good time.
