My wife and I traveled with another couple. We chose the cruise because of the itinerary and because we were very happy with a previous Viking Cruise. The itinerary was excellent, though not as good as the Danube Waltz because it had more cities. Before we set sail in Basel, Viking provided a tour of the city that we didn't expect. That was a nice addition. We liked the included tours and the 2 optional tours we took. There weren't as much optional tours available for this tour. Embarkation went very smoothly. Our room was available early and lunch was provided for us. The ship was nice -- both the rooms and public areas. Of course, the rooms are small but that's to be expected. They were comfortable and kept clean. We enjoyed the balconies. The meals were uniformly excellent and the service was perfect. We had the same waiter at each meal. He knew our names and what we wanted and he fulfilled all our needs. We loved the fact that there were meals on the left side of the menu that were always available. So if we didn't like the special meals on the right, we had something to fall back on. The front desk personnel were friendly and helpful. Disembarkation was efficient. We hope to take another Viking cruise in the future.
Pretty rolling hills and nice cuckoo clock village
Enjoyed walking around near the ship. Also went to Marksburg Castle, which was a minor disappointment.
The city was dull, but the cathedral was fantastic. However, a walk across the bridge with the locks should be added to the tour. The views looking back at the city are great.
The town was nice but the cathedral was underwhelming.
