We were a group of 4 friends who flew over from the UK to sail on the Liberty departing on the 10th November from Galveston, looking for some winter warmth and sunshine and a lot of fun. My partner and I had sailed with RC before, however for our friends, who have sailed on other cruise lines before, this was the first time on RC. What has prompted me to write this review is the OUTSTANDING service we had on this ship. As written in other reviews, yes the ship is older than the newer generation ships and parts of it are looking dated, however it was kept immaculately clean, it is a well designed and easy to navigate ship and the entertainment and activities on offer are numerous and generally very good. Food in the buffet and main dining room was excellent and the drinks served were absolutely fine. No problem at all getting a sun lounger even on sea days, great pools, well equipped gym and the waterslides were great - we really loved the tidal wave! Most of the other passengers were friendly and fun and we had a great time and lots of laughs with the many people we met. We came looking for fun and this cruise certainly delivered on that! Now back to the service. Everywhere we went the bar staff, drinks servers, "washy washy" staff (on entering the buffet) were efficient, friendly and fun - laughing, dancing and enjoying themselves. Well done Royal Caribbean for I have been on many cruises where the staff seem to be reprimanded for spending time talking to passengers or engaging with them in a fun or cheeky way. Happy staff who also provide excellent service is what most people want when they go on their hard-earned holiday (sorry, vacation!!!) Drinks service was swift at the buffet and in the Rembrandt MDR our waiter Casroy was like a magician - our favourite drinks just appeared as soon as we sat down and we didn't even have to ask for refills. He and his colleague Oliver were so friendly and attentive 10 out of 10 wouldn't be a high enough score! The head waiter too, Alvaro from Chile, was amazing and provided excellent service and attention. He clocked that one of our group was vegetarian and every night he brought something special to the table for her (and us) to try. Nice touch. Lots of good humour as well. During the day too by the pool, either at the pool or sky bar service was quick and with a smile and a joke, lots of great banter with the staff. We often didn't even have to go to the bar as service around the pool was excellent. Claudia, from Mexico, seemed to anticipate whenever we needed a drink - she was great and again service was outstanding! The only small criticism that 3 of our group had (the 4th is a smoker) is the smoking policy in the casino. We normally all enjoy spending a lot of time (and money) at the tables and slots however on this cruise our time spent in the casino was always cut short because of the amount of smoke and smell. Perhaps they could alleviate this by having one end or half of the casino smoke free - tables are duplicated anyway and there are plenty of slots? For my part, preferably ban smoking altogether in the casino (it is on deck 4 where smokers can go outside and smoke anyway) - it would be interesting then to see if more, or indeed, fewer people would play at the tables or slots. This did not impact on the enjoyment we had on this cruise as we had so much fun elsewhere. We would like to thank all the staff on board for making this cruise so much fun for us and I hope the management of RC relay these comments to them.

Fun cruise with outstanding service
