Had been recommended Viking for river cruising and I was not disappointed! We chose the Paris and heart of Normandy cruise as we wanted to follow the path of the first Viking visitors - King Rollo, a great favourite of mine. And we got to see his tomb on the grand cathedral in Ruoen. The longboat was superb, clean, great staff and much quieter than I thought it would be, oh and smooth - no seasickness here!
Food and drink was superb, and we enjoyed a rich variety of meals, often eating chefs recommendations. Breakfast was very relaxed with a great selection of freshly made or buffet style choices. Then after breakfast it was the daily excursion. So well planned and our guides were very friendly and knowledgable (as would be expected), we went with a group who went at a slower pace which suited us better as our mobility is not as it once was.
As I mentioned we took this cruise for the destinations and our ,love of the Vikings! Each port of call was very educational, from Parisd and the wonderful artwork in the Louvre, to Notre Dame Cathedral (before the fire!), to Monet's Garden, Bayeaux for the tapestry and the Normandy beaches in this anniversary year. Needless to say we enjoyed our trip very much.
Cabin was comfortable and kept clean and tidy by a super valet.
From here we travelled to Monet's Garden, I had been before and was lovely to see in a different season.
