We initially chose this cruise for a business retreat. We’re a small firm and did a cruise with Royal last year. We liked royal so much we decided to give a different company a try to compare. It was a huge mistake. Initially everything seemed great. We got on board and settled in just fine. We noticed that only a few (1-4) bars on the whole ship were open when we got on board at 1:30. We thought it was just because it was the boarding day but that ended up continuing through the whole weekend. It was very difficult to keep track of which bars opened when and when we asked the staff was rude. Due to only a few bars being open during the day the lines often wrapped around the pool deck or down in the atrium. The staff would be clearly frustrated when taking drink ordered mostly because they were swamped. The food was great at Cagneys but everything else was lackluster. In regards to the staff, they overall seemed uninterested in answering simple questions about hours of operation or locations. The ship seemed completely understaffed in areas where they needed more and overstaffed in others. Leaving the ship was by far the worst experience I’ve had on a cruise. To make a long story short they wouldn’t let anyone off if either they owed you money or if you owed them money. This is regardless of whether or not you have a card on file. On previous vacations if there is a balance one way or the other the company just charges or credits the card. Apparently Norwegian has the physically give you cash. This caused a huge line to stack up in already tight areas with staff giving contradictory instructions about where to stand and how to proceed off the boat. The staff at certain points were literally yelling at each other and guests to move in contradictory areas.
