I have been on 3 Royal Caribbean and many Carnival cruises. Although this ship has more amenities( ice skating rink, carousel, rock climbing wall, wave raiders, and a promenade I found some areas lacking. They no longer have locker rooms for the gym. It is all closed off. I used to love going to steam room like on Oasis of the seas in 2012. They have now changed this and you have to pay for access to steam rooms. The food at buffet and main dining was excellent. But all complimentary food everywhere else is poor mans food. Hamburgers and hot dogs at Wipeout cafe and hot dog stand. Hamburgers task like grain, spices and a little meat. So gross. Promenade cafe has a few desserts from whatever was made that day and 1-2 items. Wrap or bagel for breakfast, Cold sandwiches, for lunch and sandwiches for diner. Central park cafe has same 4 items. Sorrentos pizza is made in front of you but taste like frozen pizza. Carnival has gourmet pizza 24 hours a day.

Between the hours of 3:30pm-6pm and 9:00pm - 6:00am there is nothing good to eat. You can order room service but it cost $8 plus 18% gratuity. They offer a specialty coffee packages which I purchased. If you are not sitting in a restaurant then you have to go to Cafe Promenade or Central park cafe. Both of which have ONE man making coffees. Their are 5000 guest. It was a joke that they will not add another person to make coffees. It took 20 minutes to get one cappuccino. They want you to spend money and go to Starbucks and give up on waiting in line for something you paid extra for. Nothing to watch on TV. I go on vacation because I work hard and I want a week of rest. The first days I lay in bed all day and watch TV. They had BBC TV and crappy shows, which they repeat twice in the day. ( Dougie Houser, Superior donuts , Instant Mom, Flaming star Elvis movie, Star trek( one of each of the enterprises). But no movies like carnival has. Had I known I would have lugged my laptop with me. Windjammer buffet does not have enough seats. Its so crowed I had to leave the first 3 days and eat my food in my room. First 3 days the people walking around helping in windjammer and all over ship cleaning were angry its like they hate their jobs. No smiles. It was horrible. Carnival everyone smiles. Also not enough workers clearing the tables in windjammer. Casino smells so badly of smoke. Very poor ventilation system. And the quickest route for that floor is through the casino and you reak after just walking through. Carnival is not like that. No big announcements for formal night. They have it written on one tiny place under dress code on flier which I missed. I had asked my waiter the first night which was formal night and he said tomorrow and the last night. Well he was wrong and I missed the lobster diner. So upset. Popcorn cost $2.50. Its free on carnival. No clothes lines to dry wet clothes in shower. Even in our Ocean view balcony. Lastly no where to hang out past 9pm. You can go to the party area in promenade. They have a card room which is freezing and has about 11 tables. But I would hang out with my husband in the buffet area where its not super cold on Carnival and play cards on a big table until 1:00am. No where to do this on this ship. No quiet areas to relax with tables. Carnival has lounge chairs and table all over the ship. The Coach, Kate spade and Michael Kors store sold mainly purses. So lame. Why not clothes? Cute dresses and shirts to wear on the cruise. Its fun shopping and the stores are useless with no good items. A few good things are they have a running track on lower level out of the hot sun unlike carnival which is on the top level. Buffet has better food than Carnivals buffet. But that was about it. They don't make PA announcements like carnival but I like a few announcements to let me know big events going on.

Cabin Review

Ocean View Balcony Accessible

Great cabin. Very large but I would have liked drawers to store clothes inside. They had 3 small drawers in desk, And then one small closet and 6 shelves. No drawers. Also no clothes line to dry clothes in the bathroom. We like that feature in Carnival. But great quiet room with ocean view.

Port Reviews

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Falmouth Jamaica is a port built for Royal Caribbean. They have shops to shop at. Not cheap ones. If you do not purchase an excursion there is no where to go. The taxi to Montego bay is $50 each way. or $20 each on a shuttle. But no one wanted to go so we couldn't go. So hot and just wanted to go to a beach. None near by. Labadee Haiti and Cozumel had great beaches. Labadee Haiti is just a Royal caribbean port with chairs umbrellas and they bring lunch to the beach. They have pushy locals who follow you and insist on setting up your chairs. But then he said it only cost a tip. What a crock. Set the chairs up or follow us as we pick our own chairs out. then demands a tip. If I'm paying for cruise ports why is some guy who is hired by carnival charging me money to follow me to a chair and demand a tip. So rude. If I ask for help I will tip. But do not push yourself on me and demand a tip. Cozumel was nice, Snorkled at Uvas resort for $15. Includes snorkle, fins, life vest all amenities( bathroom, umbrellas and chairs) and one free drink. Nachos were yummy but we did not purchase any other food. It gets hot here and I would recommend shopping first and then go to the ocean resort when sun comes out past 12pm. Had a massage which was $50 for 30min deep tissue. It was nice, being near the beach. Bring reef shoes because its rocky.

Labadee

Blue water but not clear for snorkling. Pushy local who follows you around when trying to pick out a beach chair. He insist on getting in your face and trying to show me a chair. I said no and I picked out other ones in the shade. He followed us and said ok, it will only cost you a tip, I gave him a few dollars but really I should not because he pushed himself on me and I did not ask for help. He is hired by Royal Caribbean and it was rude. They brough food out( hamburgers, hot dogs, ribs, chicken, desserts and a few salads.

Falmouth

Only a shopping port. No beaches nearby unless you paid for an excursion. Did not like it. Montego Bay was 30min $50 each way taxi ride away. Shopping over priced.
