We choose it because of the itinerary(esp. time in NY City before the cruise started,) cost for the length of time & wanted to try an ocean cruise with Viking after loving our river cruise in April. Overall the staff were excellent & we loved Vickie's presentations & the wonderful humor of the other speakers. I also loved the Reagan presentations & the port talks. Evening entertainment was very good also. The ship was immaculate all the time. We loved the infinity pool, the padded loungers in the pool area with the slight bit of air to cool you off, afternoon tea, gym, walking track, macarons, ahi tuna at the pool grill, fresh squeezed OJ every morning & lamb chops for breakfast. I could go on & on about how we loved this ship. Usually my husband avoids buffets; but, we both loved the World Cafe because we were able to try small amount of many different foods. The variety of seafoods was amazing & always cooked to perfection as were the steaks & eggs. Other cruise lines don't seem to have spinach & the Sun had plenty of it & again the veggies were cooked perfect. The ports were as we expected the only included shore we wished we hadn't done was Historic Basseterre & Fairview Great House. The driver was not very informative & didn't tell us where we were when we arrived at Fairview. The stay here was a waste of time because the gardens weren't special & the house wasn't a big deal. The driver never gave us a Viking review to fill out. The other included tours gave us one. Neither of our snorkel excursions gave us a review either; both of them were very good; but the Shipwreck &Turtle Cove boat had either 63 or 65 people & was over crowded; one young couple had to sit on the floor & the rest of us were pretty crowded together. The crew did a very good job of trying to get everyone to see everything; but, people were swimming over & under everyone to see the turtles etc. I did see Joachim the General Manager & explained my negatives about these 2 excursions. He thanked me for informing him & asked me some further questions. Would we do a Viking Ocean Cruise again... definitely.
