  • Sail Date: Oct 2019
  • Destination: the Mexican Riviera
  • Cabin Type: The Haven Aft-facing Penthouse with Balcony

We choose this cruise because of the ship, especially because of the newly designed Haven and it did not disappoint us. Overall there was a lot to do and many places to go, we didn't have a change to experience all, as there were so many things to do.

The Waterfront is a great concept, we had dinner outside in Los Lobos and the food, ambiance and service were excellent, try the table-side guacamole! The avocado ice cream was not a favorite of us, but everything else was delicious. Also had drinks on the Mojito bar outside several times.

The breakfast foods in the buffet were good selection, but we felt that hot foods were not hot at all, by the time you would get to your table the food would be cold.

The Haven court yard, sundeck, lounge and restaurant were excellent with top of the line service and food, the fillet mignon in the Heaven restaurant was better than in Gagney's. The personnel in Haven would greet you by your name and remember your preferences, I have a gluten intolerance and it was always addressed properly, they would provide gluten freed bread and adjust dishes to be gluten free. Our Concierge Hanno and our butler were super attentive and took care of everything from room service deliveries, Racetrack reservations to shore excursions.

Casino was also nice with good selection of slots, wished there would have been more Video poker game variations. VP machines had a decent pay tables for a cruise line.

Cabin Review

The Haven Aft-facing Penthouse with Balcony

Aft-facing penthouse was in my opinion better than the 2-bedroom family suite, that we had cruised in the past, because it has huge balcony that is never windy as it is in the aft of the ship. There was a table with four chairs and 2 loungers. We would go out to the balcony to watch sunrise and sunset and just enjoy the view while the ship was traveling. Had breakfast delivered twice and enjoyed it out there. The cabin was very quiet, no squeaking or any other noises, had a great sleep, bed was very comfortable. Also this cabin has the configuration of bathroom having two windows to the balcony, it makes the bathroom room and bright. There was plenty of storage. Our butler was very attentive delivering us treats, cheese trays and even fillet mignons from the Haven Restaurant. The Nespresso coffee machine is nice touch, that was the best coffee on board and you could make it anytime. Definitely would recommend the aft location on the ship as the aft elevators were not busy, forward elevators were busy at all times.
