  3. MSC Seaside
My husband and I had an amazing time on MSC Seaside YC 10/5/2019 – 10/12/2019! One minor glitch on embarkation and a misunderstanding as to how the photo package worked, but otherwise flawless! Haven’t cruised in many years and first time with MSC. Embarkation / disembarkation • The YC embarkation lounge is quite nice with drinks and snacks. • To be walked onto the ship, the two of us, travelling alone, somehow got lumped into a group of 25 who were travelling together. This resulted in us getting separated from the group. After quite a bit of frustrated roaming around, we found our way to the Yacht Club, but had missed the whole entry and orientation experience. Big picture, it all worked out fine with YC Director sending us a nice champagne and a hand written note of apology. She also explained to us later that to prevent this from happening in the future, they would be limiting the size of groups walked on together. • Disembarkation perfect as they allowed us to hang out in the YC lounge as long as possible so we had less time waiting in the airport. Ship / YC / room • Ship, room and YC areas are all new, gorgeous, and contemporary. • We particularly liked our poolside cabana for peaceful sleepy afternoons. • The photo package worked differently than we have encountered before. Rather than roving photographers, there were stations where you could stop for photos. When we have seen these on other cruise lines, they were for formal photo shoots people had purchased. After day two when we had not seen a roving photographer, we stopped and asked at the photo counter. They explained that you just stopped at any (or all) of the stations and they would take your picture. They helped pose you for photos and the results were fabulous! Like professional portraits! Staff / Other guests • Our butler, Joel, and assistant butler, Pravin took great care of us! The room was sometimes made up so quickly we kidded that they must live under the bed or something! • We did not encounter rudeness from any of the guests. Keep in mind, there is A LOT to look at and not all countries “drive on the right” as we do in the U.S. I feel like this may contribute to some of the frustrations voiced in other reviews. Food / drink • Only ate room service and YC restaurant. More than enough selection and everything was both delicious and beautifully presented! • Maitre d, Ercan, and service members Raymond, Reynaldo, Rohan, Christian, and Elroy were attentive and personable. One night, when a little girl of about seven or so was struggling with her food, Christian stopped to cut it for her! Such a thoughtful gesture and she looked so relieved and delighted! • Bar service at the main bar, perhaps a bit slower than we might expect but, so much to look at and the bartenders so engaging, we didn’t really care. • Bar service at YC bar and YC pool bar was spot on with some very nice cocktails! Sagar at YC bar was a delight to “come home to” each evening! • Chocolate and coffee martinis at Venchi were positively delicious! Excursions • Ocho Rios, Jamaica – Flavors of Jamaica cooking class o Fun and delicious! Red Stripes available at extra cost. Tour guide / driver, Raymond, was hilarious! o Bring cash for shopping and for tips! • Georgetown, Grand Cayman – Stingray City on Allura o We booked this tour late because our initial Stingray City tour cancelled the day before. Large catamaran, Allura, with 65 guests on board. The Captain, David, and crew, Davey and Louanna did an incredible job of making sure EVERYONE got to spend time with and have as much interaction as they wanted with these amazing creatures! Louanna took some really great pictures for us, too! • Cozumel, Mexico – VIP Save a Turtle and Lobster Lunch o So cool to have the opportunity to rescue these tiny sea turtles! Be sure to take plenty of cash because the initial stop where you can buy black coral pieces really was the only opportunity to buy it and only accepted cash. Lunch was delicious and included wine! The day did get a bit long. By the time we got to the tour of the Mayan Village, we were hot, sandy, sweaty, and ready to get back to the ship! • Nassau, Bahamas – Sea Lion Encounter and Blue Lagoon o Super fun experience! Sea lion startled me to death when he “roared” right as he was giving me a bear hug for a picture! Hung out at the bar for a few drinks after. Theme nights were fun! Totally recommend getting into the spirit of it!

Props to Seaside and her crew!
