We chose this cruise for the itinerary, and it did not disappoint. We knew the ship was tired and would be going into dry dock for retrofit. But I loved the size and layout of the Spirit. The staff and crew overall was amazing. The ship was clean and well kept. The entertainment was very good to boring, but overall good. The Soul Sound Brothers were great and the Elements Show as I have seen on other NCL ships was excellent. Other shows in the theatre should either cut out the fog machine or use It lightly, as it was a distraction. However I was disappointed with the gift shops having over priced items and the extra 20% vat. We have never experienced that on other Mediterranean Cruises. The food was a little disappointing. We noticed cheaper less tender cuts of meat. Over cooked fish and the seafood was really so small. Too much repetitive in the menu. The vegetables, salad and fruit was plentiful and fresh. The last day of the cruise a new dessert was introduced, a Kula cream tart which was Devine. Hope they will keep it on the menu. The Asian restaurant and buffet were good, but there again disappointed in the meat carving as the cuts of meat were poor and repeated too often. We also noticed the linens on the bed were older and thin, not like other NCL ships. Hopefully this will be corrected after it is retrofitted. The specialty restaurants prices have gone up, or become a la cart so we didn’t bother, which was disappointing as we were celebrating our 50 Th Anniversary and wanted a special meal to celebrate. We treated ourselves to two special meals in Athensand Santorini instead.

Cabin Review

Cabin OA 8010

Cabin was clean but tired. Bed was comfortable but sheets were thin and somewhat piled. No NCL standard.

TV was useless.

City Tour

Would have been better but because of protests some of the routes were changed and left us at a stop so faraway from final stop we had to take a cab to get back to the ship on time.

Tour and guide took off and we couldn’t keep up with them. We didn’t see any hop on hop of stops. Ended up taking taxis around the city at an extra expense. When we reported this to the excursion desk they were kind enough to refund that portion of the excursion.

Rome (Civitavecchia)

It was fun and a good learning experience. Federico the chef owner taught us to make bolognese sauce gnocchi eggplant parmigiana, and tiramisu. After the class we got to eat along with plenty of wine and Sammbuca. It was a wonderful fun day an alternative from a trip to Roma where we have been many times. Booked through Italy Tours. It was lovely but would have liked more time to stop for picture taking

Very good tour jam packed a lot in the few hours we had. It would have been nice to be in port longer.

This was the best tour ever. We had a full day and our guide George showed us the entire island Giving history lessons and interesting facts along the way. We stopped in Oia, the Art Space Winery, the Mission and at a lovely Restaurant overlooking the ocean that served fresh fish and the best Greek salad. It was a memorable day and fun was had by our group of twelve.

Athens (Piraeus)

Good tour on the hop on hop off. Then a amazing afternoon lunch at the restaurant below the Acropolis.

Since this was a second visit to Split we relaxed on the Promonard with drinks.
