Cheapest way to get to Greenland to see the south and west of the island. I have not been on a cruise before. I was on the Baltic deck, two away from the tender boat exit which was ideal. The cabin was spacious and clean and light and we could see out of the portholes and watch passing icebergs by kneeling on the beds. All staff were very good. The food was fine though not excellent. Managed just about to stop being repetitive over the 21 days on board. We ate in the restaurant in the evening - glad we chose the 8pm sitting so could let afternoon tea go down. Cream teas much appreciated! At other times ate in the cafe/bistro as we could then sit by a window and look out. Mostly to see sea and fulmars.

We were lucky to go through the Prinz Christain Sound which took all day, as entry can be blocked by icebergs. Unluckily could not land at Uummannaq though the view of it from the ship was magnificent. Was foggy part of the time at Illullissat so try and see the ice flow early in the day. Listening to whales in the mist was very atmospheric!

I liked the fact the ship was like a real boat and not too dressed up. Public areas were comfortable and the entertainment staff were very talented. Drinks a reasonable price. The rear of the deck was a lovely suntrap, even in the arctic. We used the jacuzzis one day and it was warm enough to sunbathe in just a swimming costume.

Cabin Review

On Baltic deck, second one up from Bottom. Nice and low down and towards the back so good for seasick people. It did not feel like we were low down when in the cabin - it felt light and clean and spacious. Only one night were the portholes (there were two) battened down due to rough weather and it still felt fine. Was at a lower temperature to public areas so easy to sleep. Beds were fine. I would recommend this cabin and would use it again. I did not up for an upgrade for fear of being put high up in the ship and was glad I did not. It was easy to wait in the cabin for the tender boat trip to be called as we were yards away from the tender boat exit so easy to get on and off and not far to go to our cabin on the return. The cruise had a lo of tender ports so was ideal.

Port Reviews

Reykjavik

Bought £25 day ticket from Tourist information so could go on buses, and to some museums and visited videy Island . Had been on Golden Circle tour before which is always good.
