The staff could not have been more hospitable or helpful. The food was excellent and the wait staff was efficient, friendly and extremely welcoming and entertaining. The ship is absolutely marvelous with beautiful and functional public spaces and staterooms. My mobility is somewhat limited and and everyone on board was most helpful in assisting me, when required. My only criticism of the cruise relates to the shore excursions. My physical limitations make it very difficult for me to go up and down stairs. Most of the shore excursions require the use of a motor coach which require one to go up and down stairs to enter and exit. Frequently the step between the ground and the bus is quite high and impossible for me to navigate. Viking and other cruise lines should use their marketing power to require vendors for ground transportation to provide coaches which are ADA compliant. There were a great number of senior passengers on my cruise who would have benefited from having coaches which were easier to board. It seems to me that efforts to make cruises and shore excursions more accessible is not only the right thing to do but also makes great business sense, given the demographics of the passengers who can afford to take high end luxury cruises.
