5 night cruise from Sydney to Tasmania and back. We had been on a Royal class ship before so knew what to expect with the Majestic. Overall it's a pretty ship and liked that they enclosed the forward Hollywood pool area on the majestic.
We are in our 40's and we felt really, really young on this cruise. Not that we mind what age other passengers are, more that we noticed we just didn't seem to get the same level of service and smiles from the crew as passengers double our age. In fact some of the crew just came across a little rude even. Most of the shows etc really were aimed at a much older audience.
On previous Princess cruises we really haven't enjoyed the Dining room experience, so on this cruise we didn't bother. We ate at Alfredo's twice. First time was ok, second food was under cooked and not tasty at all. Buffet was real hit and miss. Some items were very good, while others seemed to be way over cooked and just bathing in oil and fat. It was also very annoying that most items had lids on them which made it hard to see what you wanted, etc. We did try to eat at the Crown grill one night but it was totally booked out. We would have tried the french place but there was a very strong unpleasant seafood smell coming from it.
We had a standard balcony which was fine. but not as roomy as basic balconies you find on other Lines.
Other points, you need to get to the theater very early to get a seat. Odd that such a new ship doesn't have the more hygenic push button doors to public toilets.
The Piazza area is very nice and where a lot of things happen. The enclave area is also worth a visit.
I would sail again on this ship, but only for a decent price or interesting ports.
