I choose this cruise to experience fall colors in New England, but due to unusually warm weather, the leaves had not turned yet. Oh well, I was still excited to see ports I had never been to before. Boston, Bar Harbor, Halifax, and Quebec City were great....wonderful sightseeing, history, food, culture. But there were some ports that were not worth the effort to get off the ship. Saguenay/La Baie were the two ports that were not interesting at all. Charlottetown was cancelled due to weather, and Sydney was just so-so.

The layout of the Norwegian Dawn is bizarre, forcing you to pass thru a smoke filled bar to get from place to place on deck 6. There is actually a smoking room that opens out to a lounge that hosted most of the trivia games and music entertainment. Not only was the venue totally inadequate for the number of guests trying to find seats, but the cigarette and cigar smoke billowed out each time the door was opened. Totally unacceptable!

Cabin Review

Obstructed Oceanview

They weren't kidding when they said "obstructed view". Both porthole windows were entirely blocked by the life boats. To make matters worse, whenever the life boats were used as tenders in port, they were lowered about 5 AM (it was still dark) and made such a racket it was impossible to sleep thru that. Also, The Teppanyaki Restaurant was directly below the cabin....so every night you were treated to very loud music, clapping and stomping. It was mid-ship and centrally located. That was the only good thing. Not a good cabin choice at all.
