We cruise NCL regularly and chose the Eastern Cariben cruise because it was one itinerary we have not sailed and my friend wanted to see St. Thomas. This cruise almost started off with a bang when a bomb scare was called in at the Miami port. On our way to San Juan, we learned they had just had a 6.2 eaerthquake and when we arrived, everything was closed except Walgreens where we bought tee shirts!

A tropical storm closed down St. Thomas so we had to spend an extra day in San Jaun skipping St. Thomas altogether, and San Juan was a little better but not by much. All excursions in San Juan were cancelled with a full refund. Passengers had to exlore this city on their own the second day in port. We did get Tortorla which is a beautiful island of nothing. Our final port of call, Nassau, was cancelled due to TWO medical emergencies.

Because of all the time aboard the Getaway, we realized there was not enough public space for 4000 passengers. Everyone was restless. You can call i t"cabin fever." Seats in public areas were hard to find. Bars were three deep and the pool area became a circus with loud music blasting. It was a miserable cruise.

Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

Small, hard to maneuver around it with two people and the bathroom was larger than our balcony!
