We chose this cruise because we wanted to learn more of the long history and varied cultures the United Kingdom, and experience the land and peoples without having to drive or figure out train schedules. Norway was an added bonus. Loved the cruise and remember aspects of it daily. We felt Viking went "over the top" in considering every detail to enhance our cruise experience. Here's a breakdown:
EMBARKATION: Originally, we thought we would just drop off our luggage and then find a local place to have lunch. We were surprised that we could have lunch onboard the first day around noon, though our official check-in time was 2 pm.
FOOD AND BEVERAGES: Exceptional! There were always healthy options. The variety was also amazing. There was an area for Asian food, including sushi, seaweed salad, etc. There were plenty of vegetarian options as well as seafood and meats. Desserts were appropriately sized and there was always a no-sugar-added option. Servers ensured guests had the wine, beer, or other desired beverages as desired. The wine selection was quite good. The specialty dining options were definitely worth trying at least once during the cruise. The Chef's Table had a delightful wine pairing.
Great local craft shop on shore right before boarding ship. Lovely Scottish ladies sometimes knitting their wares right there.
