  3. Regal Princess
The option of embarking from New York is especially good for those of us in the northeast. We like Princess. There is a new feature called Medallion Class. Not all ships are equipped with it yet. This new system replaces the old credit card room key. If you are already booked on a Medallion Class ship and fill out the necessary paperwork your medallion will be sent to your in advance and on embarkation day you don't even have to check in, just walk through. When you approach your room the door automatically unlocks and your picture appears on a screen outside your door. A medallion class cruise also has very strong and fast WIFI. Once you reach platinum status with Princess it is free. Our room was in the forward area on the Lido deck. That puts you a short walk from the Horizon Food Court. Plus there is always an available elevator to take you down to the theater and the main shopping and reception desks. The ship was sparkling clean and the crew friendly.

Go Medallion!

Cabin Review

Balcony
Cabin BF L235
The cabin is quite small and the shower very small, though it does hav a fold down seat for those unsteady on their feet or during strong seas.

  • Acadia National Park
The leaves were just beginning to change. In another two weeks the travel should be magnificent. The highlight of this tour was a program with Captain John. He is a retired lobster fisherman. He was extremely interesting. Make sure you take the tour that includes both him and Acadia

Absolutely top drawer! The only negative comment is there wasn't enough time here. This museum is chock-a-block full of interesting artifacts from the "coconut" to the Friendship 7 capsule. Definitely put this on your schedule.

  • Peggy's Cove
Normally, I would rate this tour a five. I have been there before. The town is now a UNESCO site. It is a picturesque little place. The lighthouse a great photo op. But, on this specific day the parking lot was loaded with buses and cars. The line for the restroom stretched out the door. The gift shop was packed cheek to jowl with people shopping for the perfect souvenir. The town is beautiful, but you might try visiting on the shoulder season.

The reversing rapids and a look at the whirlpool bring back those old social studies lessons on the tides.
