We booked this cruse very last minute, and snapped up a reasonable deal on a YC1 cabin in the famous MSC Yacht Club, first things first, the Yacht Club is a wonderful experience and really does set a bar for service, unfortunately there are still so many small niggles that stop it being the luxury experience they sell. The constant sell sell sell from all staff, photos, speciality dining, spa etc it’s just constant and really grates after a while.
Embarkation: we boarded in Rome, luggage was taken immediately on our arrival and we was led into the waiting room in Rome, as we arrived at 1.30 we was sat down while the butler checked us in, within 10 mins he was walking us into Yacht Club Top Sail Lounge, this is a very relaxed lounge for YC guests.
Cabin: we had a YC1 which is for all intense purposes a Mini Suite cabin with a bathtub, the room was a nice size for two people and serviced daily by the cabin attendant. Lots and lots of storage.
Dining and Lounge: the Top Sail Lounge was a quiet and comfortable area you can visit anytime of the day, we ate breakfast there everyday and it was more than enough, pastries and fruit etc, you are sat for dining in Le Muse, this was where it all went wrong, a basic requirement should be to dine when you want, we was told on the first day between 7.30-8.30pm the restaurant was very busy, we tried to come earlier or later to fit this but felt very out of the experience we expected from YC.
Entertainment: you don’t come on a MSC cruise for entertainment , bad Tina Turner act, terrible acrobatics show and awful witches show, NCL or Princess excel here and MSC struggle with the language issues.
Disembarkation: have never felt so unwanted on a ship on the final day, we was asked three times what time was was getting off, in the end we just left ourselves, a really sour end to a average to good cruise.
Lots of Storage and nice bathroom with a bath, clean and well maintained.
