Caribbean Princess Cruise Review by Ortie
- Sail Date: September 2019
- Destination: Canada & New England
I'll make the rest as short as possible:
On board (deck) activities were often advertised but never took place.
The buffet area is very small for the size of the ship usually resulting in no available seating.
The buffet food was cold, stale, and tasteless. Nothing was prepared fresh you have to take what has been sitting out for hours.
Food in the dining room suffered the same. We had overcooked boiled steaks, cold soups, onion soup with no onion! We even tried the Grill where the lamb and the steak had the same seasoning and was uneatable. We gave up and ate pizza and burgers at the outdoor venues.
The service was mediocre with most not seeming to care about the deficiencies. The best service was provided by three bartenders and a couple of servers at the Mix Bar on deck 15.
When leaving the ship for excursions, etc. there always seemed to be a great deal of confusion. (organized chaos) When returning there was no greeting just a crew member saying this way.
Overall i have to say that for the money we received little value. We have a vacation tentatively booked with Princess for next summer but are now exploring other options.
Also, there was an outbreak of norovirus on our cruise and the one following. If cruise lines think it's due to a lack of washing one's hands maybe they need to review the way food is prepared and put out on the buffet.
