We chose Viking Ocean Cruise because we have taken 2 river cruises and we were extremely impressed with the staff, the ship and the excursions so we decided to go with Viking Ocean. The ship had so much to offer. We loved having the infinity pool to hang out at after an excursion. It was so relaxing and a great place to meet other people. The suites are fabulous, plenty of room to relax and enjoy. The housekeeping staff and other staff are very friendly and always trying to please. We felt the dining was a bit off for breakfast and lunch. We would sit at a table and there would not be a salt and pepper shaker on the table and it would take awhile before someone would come over to help us. The restaurants on the ship were excellent. The only disappointment was that the food did not match the ports that we visited. We felt the food on the river cruise was much better and the variety of food was excellent on the river cruise. We would take another ocean cruise with viking but we prefer the river cruises with less people on the ship.

Cabin Review

Cabin Penthouse veranda suite

The bed is extremely comfortable and there was plenty of room. The sitting area was a nice size and we had plenty of room to move around and not feel cramped. The balcony was larger than on the river cruise and we enjoyed sitting out. The bathroom was a good size and plenty room for 2 of us to be in at the same time.

Port Reviews

Dubrovnik

Guide was great really gave us just enough information. Loved this experience of walking the walls.

Venice

WE wanted to walk around and do our own thing and relax and shop after the pre trip in Tuscany.

Athens (Piraeus)

We wanted to do the town on our own since we had been to Athens with tours in a previous trip. We went to the Jewish Museum which was excellent. We walked all over the Plaka district, shopped and had an excellent lunch. We did climb the Acropolis and all the sights. It was extremely hot so we ended up going back to the ship for dinner. We would have preferred to have dinner in Athens but the ride on the bus back to the Plaka district was too long and we were not in the mood to deal with another bus.
