Viking Star Cruise Review by Tweetie19
Trip Details
- Sail Date: September 2019
- Destination: Mediterranean
We had previously used Viking for China and had THE most amazing and wonderful experience so we naturally looked at Viking for the Mediterranean. The ship, Viking Star was immaculate at all times, the staff friendly and helpful, cabin clean and spacious and the communal areas well maintained. The buffet food was incredible and the special seafood night at poolside was a foodies delight. We did all the included excursions and bought 3 additional trips. Venice Opera, was expensive and didn't live up to the brochure explanation...warm wine and no snacks! However, the balance of the trips where good but very busy in Athens as there where several other cruise ships and it was a bit of a bun fight at times, that aside we enjoyed them. Several of the guides where exceptional, a few good and one mmmmmm just ok...but it didn't spoil our overall experience. If we did Viking again we would look again at the additional trips that say 'with wine and snacks' a little more carefully !

AcropolisHad an amazing and knowledge guide, however due to the amount of people on the Acropolis it was dangerous, too many people climbing the ruins at one time and no respect from some tourists for the ancient siteView All 345 Acropolis Reviews

SantoriniGreat way to see the whole island, however as there was several other cruise ships in port it was very busy, expensive. Had over an hours wait for the cable car to take us down to the port for a 4 minute ride. Lots of beggars, graffiti and rubbish. The donkeys/mules that are used to carry tourists down to the port is outdated, cruel and frankly dangerous. We saw people using the steps to the port (as they were fed up waiting for the cable car) slip down the steps due to over crowding and donkey mess. Not enjoyable to watch both the distress of the animals and tourists!View All 13,326 Santorini Cruise Port Reviews
