We had been anxious to visit the Balkan countries along the Adriatic, and felt that the cruise itinerary offered on the Viking Star would be the best way to do this. Having traveled on other ocean cruise lines, we were pleasantly surprised at how much of a "step up" our experience on Viking was. Lots of space, pleasant environs, excellent dining and top of the line shore excursions. The staff were definitely there to serve. Guest Services did an outstanding job when we had any questions or concerns. The ports of call were excellent, however, we were a little disappointed in how crowded several of the ports were (Dubrovnik and Santorini). The main Restaurant offered an excellent menu, with "local" offerings associated with the current port of call. The wine selection was good. The Explorers Lounge was a pleasant place for a pre-dinner cocktail, especially when sailing away from port. We definitely would sail with Viking again.
