First time cruising in many years. Very impressed with friendliness of staff on board. Food was excellent t (I only ate in the dining room). No real concerns with waiting around in line. Generally short lines everywhere other than boarding in Quebec City. Quebec
I chose this itinerary as it features some excellent ports for bike riding. Connected with local bike shops in Charlottetown and Sydney to rent a road bike. Did a 70km route along the Confederation Trail in Charlottetown and 50km route Along the coastline in Sydney. E-bike tour in Halifax and mountain biking in Bar Harbour.
On board environment is what you make of it. Want laid back, head to thermal suite or join a trivia session. Want late night activities head to Spinnaker lounge.
Production shows very good. Others perfectly fine.
The Gem is not the newest ship with loads to do for young families, but recent updates give it a new modern look.
Clean refreshed look. Great for 1, not a lot of cupboard space for 2. Wouldn’t consider any more than that.
More scenery and less bike ride than what I was hoping for. Fantastic location, ok tour. Overall ranking is rated average should be interpreted as about what was expected overall.
View All 12 Carriage Ride ReviewsHad to take a free shuttle to the main port terminal. Lots of things to do in Halifax. Consider doing an e-bike tour and cost Alexander Keith’s for a different from the norm brewery tour.
Rented a road bike from local shop for an enjoyable 50km ride along the coast.
Pretty city, tough if you don’t want to visit Anne of Green Gables. Rented a road bike from a local shop and did a 70km ride out to Mt Stewart. Rewarded with ice cream at Cow’s.
