My wife and I love to cruise on Norwegian and this cruise put us at the Platinum Plus level. We live in Brooklyn so we have no problem travelling to the ship. We like the New England cruises because of the great lobster in Maine and the wonderful, welcoming people in Canada. We had no problems boarding but as Platinum members we generally are allowed to board slightly before the other cruisers but that didn't happen this time. Disembarkation was the best we ever had since they used facial recognition so we didn't even have to show our passports. We just picked up our luggage and walked right out. No line whatsoever! The Escape is a huge ship so we made sure to get a room near the elevators which cut down a lot on our walking. Since there were only two banks of eight elevators each on the ship we thought they might not have enough elevators but after our sailing day we had no long waits at all. We had a balcony room and it had enough room for us and our luggage. The sink and shower worked fine and there was no noise to disturb us. We enjoyed the Cruise Critic Meet and Greet on our first at sea day and had a lot of fun with the slot pull afterwards. We saw two great shows: A Chorus of Men and After Midnight. We played bingo twice and won one prize. We ate at four specialty restaurants and enjoyed all of them, particularly the seafood one. There were no problems at any of the four ports and the tendering to Bar Harbor was smooth. All in all a great vacation.

Cabin Review

Family Balcony Stateroom
Cabin B4 9286

The cabin was fine. We put our suitcases under the bed and had plenty of room to store our clothes. Every thing worked well: shower, sink, toilet, door to balcony, safe, thermostat, etc. Norwegian has discontinued towel animals and we did miss them.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

New York (Manhattan)

We live in New York so we were just dropped off at the ship. Of course we love our city and they and a huge number of things to do here.

Portland (Maine)

We took a ride to LL Bean and bought some clothing and had it shipped home. Then we ate at a great sea food restaurant called DiLella's where we had a great lobster which had been shelled for us. We then shopped a little and returned to the ship.

Cadillac Mountain

We were driven in a bus to the top of Cadillac Mountain and allowed to walk around for a while. The tour guide was very informative. After the tour we had a lobster lunch and shopped by ourselves. We had to tender at this port.

Trolley Tour

The trolley tour took us all the around the town and out to the reversing falls. We were dropped off at the City Market then worked our way back to the ship. The town was packed due to 5 ships being in port but the people in St. John are great and we were treated well wherever we went.

Halifax

We have been to Halifax many times and seen all the sights there so we just took a cab to the Casino and walked back towards the ship, stopping to eat lunch at a place along the waterfront.
