  3. Norwegian Bliss
We chose Bliss after watching you-tube reviews and we really wanted to experience the variety of choices on a large ship. So many voices explained how much they were blown away by the vibe and sophistication of Norwegian Bliss. We were not let down. We expected the 6-7-8 Ocean Place to be a little more dramatic but we loved the Waterfront on deck 8, the massive observation area on deck 15, and the tremendous variety of food in the Garden Café (buffet), The cruise director staff, the food service staff, and the steward for our stateroom 13850, Charles, were all magnificent. We loved the washy-washy girls singing about coffee every morning and Alex, the assistant cruise director, was absolutely the best and kept us laughing. We especially loved the international crew talent show and the introduction of so many staff members following. We felt as though we were leaving god friends and the last day was quite emotional. I can't say enough good about the Norwegian Bliss and its staff. If I needed to address anything negative, it would be that the weather forced the cancellation of the Ketchikan visit. The prices are a bit ridiculous in the on board shops and I think there should be a little more variety in snacks and items for your stateroom. We didn't have the specialty dining package but we didn't need it. With 5 dining options included, between the buffet open all day, three very elegant primary dining venues, and a 24 hour pub on deck 7 surrounding the atrium, who needs the specialty dining option? We are already looking ahead to find a cruise on the Bliss that we can join next year if possible. we sprung for the CruiseNext deal where we purchased eight $250 credits ($2000) and Norwegian paid $1000 toward this trip's bill. That being said, we are now somewhat committed to 4 cruises over 6 years and we fully intend to make at least one of those the Bliss. 330 meters long, 168,000 tons, 20 decks high. What can I say? Bliss baby, Bliss. It was the bomb. A trip to never forget.

Cabin Review

Mid-ship Balcony Stateroom
Cabin BA 13850
No real complaints. A little cramped with a smaller balcony and shower. Great service from Charles and the room was just fine. We were upgraded from a lower deck and moved to midship so I was thrilled with that. Wonderful sliding doors to the balcony and the ship was extremely smooth and very quiet. The service from the steward and cleaning staff was absolutely without flaw. They were all amazing.

  • Glacier Bay
Bliss captain gave us every opportunity to enjoy the National Park. It was everything we expected.

Pricey but the crew found whales and took us on an extra special ride to see an island loaded with sea lions. The captain didn't see the wake from another boat at one point and our boat was slammed down violently bruising my wife's arm that was resting on the windowsill but it was an accident. The salmon bake following could have been skipped. Food was lousy and venue very generic and lackluster. From now on, we return to the ship to eat real food and save bunches of money.

Beautiful ride, average commentary. Motor coach driver back on the Yukon Highway was a delight and very funny although he was fairly young. Salmon bake was another disaster but we are thankful to another motor coach driver, not our, who let us join his passengers on an earlier departure back to town giving us some free time to explore.

  • Victoria
Three cruise ships in town at once. Didn't quite understand the port not bringing Bliss in for the entire day so we could all spend lots more money. Even though the previous port was cancelled, and we could have spent the entire day in Victoria, Canadian officials refused to allow us to dock earlier. With 4 deep water docks, this made no sense. We piddled all the way back from Glacier Bay in order to delay our arrival. Town was beautiful but extremely crowded. Weather was delighful.
