Queen Mary 2 (QM2) Cruise Review by JeffreyLow
- Sail Date: April 2019
- Destination: Transatlantic
- Cabin Type: Standard Inside
It's our 2nd Cunard cruise, we were on the Queen Elizabeth in the Med in 2012. We've been on small ships like the Thomson Dream at 42,000tons and the topic of todays review; the QM2 at 149,000tons, was the 2nd largest we've been on.
-The buffet and dining room food was just ok. Royal Caribbean and Norwegian ships have better.
Service: Cabin and dining room crew: It's the same on all ships. Uniformly excellent on all cruise lines.
-For her size, she feels much much smaller. Even the public areas have poor vistas. To get to some public rooms you have to walk through a public room.
-Shopping areas are tiny.
-The public area where the purser and shopping is is all white paint. There is a grand descending staircase here which was a yawn.
-There are 2 theatres, which is nice.
-The lending library is Outstanding!
-We were in an inside cabin. It felt like any other ships inside cabin.
-Mostly older folk of the upper middle class variety. They dress up, some splendidly (custom tailored tuxes on the men) and spend evenings in the lounges drinking. Many seem to know each other.
Would I do it again? Yes. It's a very relaxing ship with an older passenger crowd. The whole feel is very 1940s.
