  • Destination: the Baltic Sea

I choose this cruise because of the itinerary and duration of the cruise. I choose his cruise line because of the overarching theme of learning about the culture in the ports of call. I also liked that it was not “sold” as a party cruise. Viking is high recommended among my colleagues and friends. The ship is laid out so you never feel crowded or cramped. The decor is open and spacious. We could always find a quiet spot to sit and enjoy the scenery. The staff was amazing and very personable. Our room was always clean, any extras need were cheerfully and quickly delivered. I have special dietary needs, the staff was aware and were sure to offer me alternative selections. The restaurants offered a wonderful varied selection of cuisines, there was rarely await for dinner.

We enjoyed all of the lectures and port talks were so entertaining. We will be planning another cruise in the future, Viking will be our first choice.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

Amsterdam

We arrived just after a thunderstorm so our first day was a bit hectic. The second day was lovely and we took a lovely canal tour before boarding the ship.

Skagen

Skagen was very wet and windy, but our excursion was very interesting. Our guide was wonderful, he was local and had wonderful stories to entertain us on our coach ride.

Vigeland Sculpture Park

Even though it was wet and the park was crowded, we loved it!

Viking Ship Museum

While the weather was quite rainy, the museums were quite a treat. We learned so much about the early Vikings, their travel. We loved the KonTiki exhibits and the one on Thor Heyerdahl.

Iron Age Farm

This was one of our must sees when we reviewed the excursions. It did not disappoint. Our tour guide was wonderful, we also went to the old Abbey and we had time for a little detour to see a lovely old church.

This was a treat as we had to change our return route, so this was added on to make up for the other sights we missed. We were not displeased, it was truly beautiful.
