We have been RC cruisers for sometime. We cruised Norwegion about 3 years ago when a cruise special included a drink package and specialty restaurant package at an incredible price. The food was very good and the overall experience was very good. This initial cruise was on the Getaway out of Miami. We really enjoyed that cruise, so we signed up for future cruise credits totaling $1000. The following 3 cruises did not match the the initial value or experience. This cruise finished up our remaining credits. We have a done a total of 4 cruises with Norwegian now and none have compared to the initial cruise experience.
Our boarding experience was smooth and quick (probably 10 minutes total).
The cruise director had great personality.
We chose the cheapest inside cabin available. It was located on deck 5, about 40 yards forward of the forward stairs/elevators, closer to the port side.
Cabin size was adequate and size of shower was better than expected. The bed was a king and very firm. Daily room service was very good and consistent.
We were surprised/disappointed at the amount of noise that traveled into our room from other area. It sounded like we were hearing staff conversations from a crew area. I couldn't tell what was above our room, but we suspect it was a dedicated crew area. This was most noticeable from 10pm to around midnight.
Went into tourist area and drank some local beers at bar. The area is clean and secure.
When I arrived at meeting location and filled out the liability form, I stated that it had been about 5 years since last dive. Because of this, they wouldn't let me dive. Apparently, according to PADI, you are required to take refresher course if it's been more than 2 yrs since last dive. I have been diving for over 30 yrs and many dives have been 3-5 years apart. This is first time I have encountered this issue. I will know how to fill out the form in the future. I suppose the litigious world we live in drives these types of standards. I can understand the cruise master wanting to take 5 minute to complete a safety briefing in this scenario, but a full refresher course seems excessive. Norwegian did give me a full refund.
