Viking Sea Cruise Review by Bigbrownbear12

Trip Details

  • Destination: Norwegian Fjords

We went with VIking again because the ocean cruise ship only carries about 900 people plus staff. There are no gimmicks. You pay for the cruise and the only other decision to make is whether you want to purchase the drink package and whether you want to purchase excursions outside those offered by Viking at each port. The Cruise Director is extremely knowledgeable about each port and hosts information sessions in advance of each arrival at a port. The food is spectacular and the service unparalleled. We purchased a chef led cooking lesson after which we consumed the wonderful multi-course meal. The wine flows freely with each dinner although you have the option to purchase specialty wines if you choose. The sauna was a feature of which we made use several times. It is relaxing and an absolute must if given the opportunity. There are no children on these cruises which we enjoy.

Cabin Review

Cabin Deluxe Veranda 3065

The cabins are clean, spacious and very comfortable. There are plenty of outlets for all the electronic gear we carried and warm bathroom floors each morning.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

City Tour

We took two tours during the day.. one four-hour tour and one two-hour tour. Both were very informative and provided us with history of life in Bergen.

Eidfjord

Eidfjord was breathtaking. The crystal clear waters running down the mountainsides was just beautiful.

The Old Town

Our guide took us on a walking tour of Stavanger. The weather was sunny and we were able to take some very nice photos of some lovely buildings on the tour.

City Tour

The first thing we saw was the 'Little Mermaid' which proved to be much smaller than we had envisioned. Lots of tourists! A walking tour of Copenhagen was most interesting with an exceptional guide.

Berlin

We opted for the trip to Berlin which was a disappointment. The train ride was almost 3 hours each way and we had rushed bus tour with little time to explore. Not worth the expense.

Aalborg

Alborg, Denmark proved to be fascinating. We saw so many half timbered homes and found it interesting that they still stand to this day.
