We went with VIking again because the ocean cruise ship only carries about 900 people plus staff. There are no gimmicks. You pay for the cruise and the only other decision to make is whether you want to purchase the drink package and whether you want to purchase excursions outside those offered by Viking at each port. The Cruise Director is extremely knowledgeable about each port and hosts information sessions in advance of each arrival at a port. The food is spectacular and the service unparalleled. We purchased a chef led cooking lesson after which we consumed the wonderful multi-course meal. The wine flows freely with each dinner although you have the option to purchase specialty wines if you choose. The sauna was a feature of which we made use several times. It is relaxing and an absolute must if given the opportunity. There are no children on these cruises which we enjoy.
The cabins are clean, spacious and very comfortable. There are plenty of outlets for all the electronic gear we carried and warm bathroom floors each morning.
Eidfjord was breathtaking. The crystal clear waters running down the mountainsides was just beautiful.
Alborg, Denmark proved to be fascinating. We saw so many half timbered homes and found it interesting that they still stand to this day.
