Decided to try out the NCL Breakaway since I’d enjoyed previous sailings on the Escape and Dawn. Great things prior to the cruise included taking advantage of NCL’s free at sea promotion-we took the drinks package and free wifi minutes. Also had the benefit of getting their free flight benefit. This in itself would warrant an average review. Once on the cruise everything was just ok. Honestly I love cruising for the food aspect of it and this cruise dealt some mediocre meals. First night decided to go to main dining room Taste and everything we tasted was very salty. Ordered the French Onion soup and beef medallions . Tried the buffet on Mexican night and selection was limited to tacos and fajitas which were just so so. No enchiladas, no tortillas soup, no mole sauce and no Churros for dessert on Mexican night! Previous sailings on NCL i has enjoyed grabbing food at O’sheans but this time the service was slow. So slow in fact I had finished my meal and my friend hadn’t received her sandwich-we got up and left so technically never saw the sandwich. To finish the food commentary I did have some good meals at the Manhattan Room and the meal served during “Wine Lovers the Musical” was excellent. Did experience the long wait times at some of the bars -Mixx bar before dinner was only serviced by 1 bartender when we went and the Atrium bar had great bartenders which probably accounted for why it was always so busy. The boat itself was great my favourite part being the Waterfront area. Saw the two main shows Burn the floor and Rock of Ages which were well done. We were successful in our room upgrade bid so we were happy to get a Balcony room. The room was spacious for two, the bathroom had plenty of storage space and the balcony had enough space for two chairs and a small table. Overall just average sailing on The Breakaway, might have to take an NCL break and try and go on another line for my next cruise.
