The Viking Homeland Cruise went to area ports we were interested in visiting. The time spent in each port gave us a good snapshot and some of the sites we would consider returning to for a longer time. We enjoyed the included shore excursions and explored on our own also. The ship was comfortable and simple elegant style with many relaxing areas to relax. We made use of the spa and workout areas. The entertainment was top notch. Our cabin had sufficient storage and comfortable bed. The dining choices were excellent. The evening we ate in Manifreds was a highlight with delicious food while sitting by the window as we cruised out of from Eidfjord. The crew of the Jupiter were outstanding; helpful and smiling at all times. Our luggage was lost and it was not tracked down till two days left on our cruise; Viking provided complimentary laundry service for our limited wardrobe.
We took the included walking tour of Viking. At the end of the tour we were met by a reenactment of a Viking market with a mead toast.
We took the provided Viking tour to the Nature Center. Disappointed that it was a movie of the nature of Norway. I had expected an outdoor recreation of a farm type setting or “real” nature....not a movie. We hiked the yellow trail of Eidfjord that afternoon.
A bus tour that gave a good overall view of the city with a couple of stops.
A university student gave a delightful tour of the city.
A FULL 2 day tour with 12 other people to many of the St. Petersburg churches and palaces.
A informative walking tour of the city and time on our own to explore.
