This is our third Alaskan cruise and probably the best overall! We live in Vancouver and it is so nice to be able to do a round trip cruise and not have to fly. We arrived at the port around 1:00 pm and the embarkation went smoothly. We picked up our Medallions and went through security very quickly. There was a bit of a delay going through US customs but with that many people it is to be expected. We boarded and went to our stateroom and our luggage was already there! We had booked an inside guarantee and we were upgraded three days before departure to a deluxe balcony with an obstructed view! We were thrilled! Our stateroom was very nice and the view was not obstructed above the railing. We had a sofa which was great. The only disappointment about the departure was the time we left Vancouver which was 1:00 am. We love the sail away out of Vancouver under the Lions Gate Bridge and the view of the beautiful city from the water but missed it this time due to the tides being low. We had anytime dining and after the first couple of nights waiting for a table we decided to make reservations in the morning for dinner that evening. The food was very good! We were pleasantly surprised to have Alaskan King Crab and Halibut on the menu two evening's on our 14 day cruise. It was wonderful having food from the place you visit. The crab was delicious! We had dinner one night at Alfredo's and the pizza was great! We also ordered a Crown Grill steak from the dining room to accompany our meal one night. We ate lunch at the Horizon Court and every sunny day took our lunch out to the aft. The entertainment was very good especially comedian A.J. Jamal who we saw four times and each show was fantastic. We also loved Charlotte Newman a singer and guitar player who has an amazing voice. She played in Crooners and other locations throughout the ship. Matt O was the cruise director and he never disappoints, he was on our Canada New England cruise last September. A very funny and likable guy. We also enjoyed watching football on the big screen in the sunshine! The service on the Royal Princess was probably the best we have had on a Princess cruise ever. Everything was kept clean and the ship looked fantastic. The staff was very attentive, experienced, warm and friendly! We had exceptional service and mentioned as many crew members as we could in our Princess Review. As we have been to Alaska a few times we didn't feel the need to do many excursions but we did go whale watching in Juneau which was fabulous. We went with Juneau Tours & Whale Watch and it was a wonderful experience. We saw orcas, humpback whales and sea lions. We got off the ship at all the ports and walked around for a few hours at each stop. We saw thousands of spawning salmon in Ketchikan. Cruising the glaciers was amazing! We had warm sunny weather and the views were breathtaking! We saw whales from the ship on several occasions. We loved everything about this cruise, and the Royal Princess, and we will definitely cruise to Alaska again!

Wonderful picturesque Alaskan cruise!

Cabin Review

Deluxe Balcony (obstructed view)
Cabin DW E324
We were upgraded from an inside guarantee cabin to a deluxe balcony with an obstructed view. We were thrilled and the cabin was great! We had a slightly obstructed view from our balcony and a sofa. The bed was extremely comfortable and the cabin was clean and roomy. It was so nice to have the balcony door open at night and have fresh air and hear the waves.
