We decoded on this cruise line because of the relaxed dinning and itinerary. We stayed in Venice for 2 days prior to catching the cruise, we stayed in the Hilton Garden Inn on the Maestre, very expensive hotel. The bus from hotel to Venice island was 3 euros return pp. very well worth it, my husband and I explored the whole island over the two days, we found amazing little quirky cafes in the side streets away from the busy areas, and not expensive, I would recommend Venice to anyone, amazing city - yes busy - but you expect that but venture off the tourist line and it’s wonderful. We boarded Norwegian star after our two days in Venice, embarkation was great and very quick. We got to our room 8536 deck 8 with a balcony and it was fabulous, very clean, spacious and every plug available from American to European, British and even usb sockets.
We done our own shore excursions as they were very expensive, embarkation and disembarkation were done very well, well organised, no complaints here.
It was fabulous to do our own thing as we had the freedom to explore, no queuing in the heat, and finding some idyllic places.
Our cabin was fabulous, Chris was our cabin steward and he truly looked after us, towels changed twice a day if needed and room cleaned twice a day. Very clean at all times.
We done our own thing, so accessible and very easy to wander the streets on you own.
We late leaving Venice to to the Italian authorities, so we were unable to enter Kotor, the ship did refund 14 dollars to everyone’s cabin per person, disappointed really but we anchored up saw a little from the ocean but saw a truly spectacular sunset.
Done our own thing here, we walked to the old city walls which was beautiful to see it was very hot this day and one thing that put me off was the smell of sewage. We walked back to the ship only do this mind if you think you can it’s a long walk but we love a good walk.
As you can imagine this place is beautiful but extremely busy with at least 4 cruise liners in the port, we done our own thing, had a tender from the ship to shore we then decided as a group with friends we made to hop on a little boat to explore the island, it was brilliant we got to the other side and caught a minibus up to the old town busy but beautiful we then had a bus to Fira town where we had lunch in a little restaurant called absolutely fabulous, on the side street we wouldn’t have found but a man said get away from the crowds for two so we slipped left and found this beautiful restaurant. We then head through the streets to another bar - a little expensive- but the views were spectacular, sunset amazing, a bit of a struggle waiting to catch the cable cars back down as it was so very busy and quite a lot a beggars whilst your queuing.
Done our own thing again, tender to the shore then we walked for a few hours exploring the sites, so beautiful clean, found a quiet little cafe overlooking the beautiful blue ocean, stunning.
Same here again, you get more from doing your own thing rather than an excursion, we met some fab people and had the best experience by wondering freely.
What ana amazing city, so beautiful in many ways, we done our own thing the taxis do not rip you off, we walked through the castle walls and saw many places where game of thrones was filmed, found the shop to sit on the throne, be aware you do have to purchase something to sit on the throne, can’t blame them really.
We then caught a taxi back to the ship where we had no problems, taxi from the ship was 14 Euro cheaper than the bus they put on and much cheaper than an excursion, it was fab to wander free and not follow a crowd like sheep.
