  • Destination: the Baltic Sea
  • Cabin Type: Princess Suite

This was our first Cunard cruise, having been on more than 10 cruises with Celebrity and Princess. The Cunard cache lured us into trying them. We were impressed by the Princes grill, we liked the restaurant and private decks available to us.Service in these areas was very good. There was no need to reserve sunbeds which was great.

We noticed that the overall condition of the Queen Elizabeth was a little worn, common areas were showing their age.

Entertainment was way below our expectations and didn't really compare with the 'Cirque du Soleil" style offerings put on by Celebrity. In fact, this was the first cruise we have been on that actually repeated shows throughout the week.

The stops on the cruise were generally good, especially St Petersburgh. There seemed little point in visiting Skagen, (Denmark) yet NOT visiting either Tallinn or Riga. I would suggest a substitution here.

We booked private tours of St Petersburg in advance which worked really well ( recommended!)

All this said, we were very disappointed by the cleanliness in our stateroom. A more detailed review is under the Cabin section below. It seemed that the workload was just too much for the cabin staff to manage when compared with other cruise lines we've been on. No excuse for Moldy tiles and blood stained towels

Cabin Review

Princess Suite
Cabin P1 8077

The Cabin was a P1 suite, similar in size to a Princess lines junior suite. Perfectly adequate. The shower was small for anyone over 6 feet tall.

However, the cabin didn't look like it had had a 'deep' clean (this term used by Cunard) for some time,

Moldy and cracked tiles in the shower. ( subsequently cleaned on request)

In addition, bloody towels were supplied to us, folded, which were unwittingly used after showering. Cunard kept towels, even though we asked for them and were promised, in writing, a full report 10 days after we docked. Nothing received, in fact we have been blocked from their call center so cannot even call now. We feel that Cunard are remiss in not responding to a perfectly innocuous request following a possible health and safety issue.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

Weather not great in open top bus. Otherwise very good, loads to see.

Helsinki

Not worth the visit - not a memorable venue, please substitute Riga

Stockholm

Excellent. Loads to see!!!

After St Petersburg, Stockholm was a highlight.

Rostock City Tour

Rostock was interesting, a sunny day - might look different in the wet.

Wish we'd done the Berlin trip
