We chose this cruise as our friends had already chose and booked the cruise in advance. We have cruised several times to several destinations, but this was our first time with Princess. The entertainment and shore excursions on the Princess Star were good. Compared to other cruise lines we have been on, we were not happy with the quality of the food on board. After attending and not happy with our late dining, We tried the specialty restaurant (Crown Grill). Even the food at Crown Grill was not up to the same standards as other cruises we've attended. We tried to eat off the ship as much as possible. We did enjoy the bar staff. As far as our cabin, we had a view (obstructed). I was nervous that the obstructed view would be a problem, but it was not at all! Every time we left the cabin, we came back to a clean room, which we enjoyed. The beds were very comfortable. The cabin was older and the drawers didn't work. The main problem we encountered was that our air conditioning did not work. The first night, my husband called maintenance twice and he waited until 1:30 a.m. and the maintenance crew never showed up. In the morning, we went to the front desk and they had a maintenance supervisor go to our room. He put a paper in front of the air conditioner vent and said that the paper was moving a little bit and felt that the air conditioner was working. They said that at the next port, if a guest does not embark, we can change rooms. We never heard back from the supervisor. But we did get a credit on our on board account for the inconvenience. We had to stay in the hot room for seven nights.
