We choose this cruise to go with another couple that this was their first cruise. The ship was looking good inside and out after the dry dock. We had an ocean suite on the 7th floor. Room was nice, lots of room and storage. We were a bit surprised that the suite did not have a bathtub as the suites do on the bigger ships. Still had a nice big shower, but the wife really like a tub to soak in. We did the first night dining in the steak house which was very good. Service was very good. Food was great but there was a lot of food and we all over ate. The first night in the main dining room, level 3, early dining, was ok, food was good but the service was a bit slow. We were there 30 min. before we even got water and the breads. I did overhear a large group next to us complain that they had been waiting for over an hour for service. The place was full and they were very busy, so I think it might have been some new staff members. We only dining the main dining room once more and this second time the service was much better. The entertainment was very good but on the last night there was a power outage that affected the whole ship and they could not get the special effects to work in the theater so the performers just sang and danced as best they could given the short notice. We have two more cruises booked on the Freedom and are looking forward to those.
Cabin was nice, had new beds which we found very comfortable. Lots of storage room and closet area. We were a bit surprised that the suite had a shower instead of a bathtub/shower but the shower stall was big enough for two. Balcony had three chairs and a small table, two of the chairs were small reclining. There is not much to watch as far as TV goes. Mostly carnival channels.
This was the "top 10" places to visit in Montego bay. We only drove by and briefly stopped to see 6 of those top 10. Not much to see from the window of the small van. The 4 other of the top 10 stops were all tourist traps and places to shop and spend money. We were offer drugs at two of those stops, with one dealer actually putting a bag of pot in my hand. Drug dealers in the open trying to sell drugs to all of us. Will not do or ever recommend this excursion to anyone. The food that we thought was included in the price of the excursion, was not included. For $6 per person and putting your name on a piece of paper, they "pre ordered" our "meal" and it was ready when we got to that place. The "meal" consisted of pork or chicken, or both. We chose chicken and it was two pieces of chicken and two dry bland bread sticks and you had to buy your drink if you wanted one. Not a good excursion.View All 31 City Tour Reviews
Nice excursion. We were the only ship in port so the excursions were not crowded at all. We took a ride to the 7 mile beach and was there 3 hours, the price included a chair, which between every 2 chairs there was a closed umbrella. After putting up the umbrella for some shade, here comes a guy saying the umbrella did not come with the excursion, to use the umbrella, that cost me another $15 but worth it. It was not windy, but there were some big breakers coming in and knocking people off their feet. Not a good day for snorkeling, to rough and the water was a bit cloudy from the waves. After we left the beach, the driver took us for the rest of the tour and showed us lots of interesting places. We stopped at the rum cake and at Hell. We got our passports stamped while in Hell.View All undefined undefined Reviews
