We chose Into the Midnight Sun on the Viking Star because the itinerary was appealing and we find cruising with Viking to be enjoyable. Viking is attractive because their associates are friendly, engaging, sincerely concerned for our welfare and pay close attention to making certain that all details are covered.
The itinerary included a pre-cruise option to visit Reykjavik, Iceland. We enjoyed visiting the Blue Lagoon; the national park and its fabulous waterfall; and the city of Reykjavik.
Our cruise started in Bergen, Norway and continued on the inside passage past the Arctic Circle to Norway's northernmost point, the North Cape. On the way we visited breathtaking scenic fjords and small villages. The landscape photo opportunities were endless from daybreak to sleep time as there was no darkness.
We found the Jr Penthouse Suite to have added value during the days without darkness, as the curtain that separates the bedroom from the sitting area serves as a second blackout screen.
The cabin was extra comfortable because of the sitting area where we could view the television, read and talk.
The bathroom was spacious and well appointed.
A must do for visitors to Reykjavik. The waters are therapeutic. An unexpected plus is the opportunity to have a beverage of choice while enjoying the therapy.
All tours were led by a knowledgeable, experienced English speaking guide with a long history as a resident of Reykjavik.
An opportunity to get reasonably up close to a geyser and experience the bubbling of the waters before the surprisingly fast eruption of the geysers.
An opportunity to see many of the sights of Reykjavik in a relatively short time.
Spectacular. Excellent viewing opportunities.
A magnificent national park with exceptional hiking, camping and fishing opportunities.
