First time in many many years to cruise with NCL. The stateroom (mid-ship mini suite with balcony) was very nice. However, in our judgment, the food was not up to par with other cruiselines. For example, there was never a filet mignon on the dinner menu--not once! The underlying message was that if you want to eat a filet mignon, you'd have to book a paid dinner at your steakhouse. Not too great, especially with the cost of cruising. Other entrees, mediocre at best. The other big problem was the public bathrooms on the cruiseship. At least 80% of them did not have working paper towel systems. The electronic systems did not work when you waived your hand underneath them. We told several employees several times on several days, but to no avail. They were never fixed during the entire cruise. This only led to the inevitable fact that the passengers could not properly wash their hands. Day after day, the passengers realized there was no paper towel available to dry hands, so I personally observed people not washing their hands at all! This was not a good practice, and only led to germs being spread on door knobs, etc. In fact, there was an overabundance of coughing by passengers -- it could be heard everywhere. We are not germaphobes by any means, but this was simply unacceptable. Other cruise lines we've taken have strict guidelines on bathroom cleanliness and performance. NCL could not even meet the minimum standards of bathroom hygiene.

Nice state room, but had some issues.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Mini-Suite with Balcony
Cabin MA 11560
Nice room, great balcony, told by your agent Ian that there was a double sink in bathroom, but that was not true. Only other complaint was that there was not sufficient room to open the closet doors.
