We had taken our very first cruise about twenty years ago. That cruise was in the Caribbean and we thought revisiting would be fun. We had cruised for our first time with Viking last year, Bergen to Barcelona, and the experience was delightful. Viking's ocean going ships are very new and the Scandinavian style decor and appointments are stunningly gorgeous. We found the crew to be extremely friendly and they went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect for our comfort and enjoyment.
We enjoyed all of the shore excursions, both the included and premium ones. The islands are beautiful, even though the residents are still struggling to rebuild after recent hurricanes.
The cuisine is quite good and accompanied by excellent service. Viking also offers dining in their smaller specialty restaurants which enhanced our dining experiences.
It was a beautiful suite with a lovely enclosed patio at the bow of the ship with beautiful deck chairs and lounge chairs. The living area was quite large and had very elegant furniture, large flat screen TV, large desk set, and a full service bar that was replaced daily.
The dining area was quite large as well. It made entertaining friends so easy. The cabin stewards were so attentive to all of our needs.
The bedroom had a King size bed with side stands and a lovely dressing area with make-up table and outlets for curling irons, ironing board, and plenty of drawer space for my husband and myself as well as a full length mirror and lots of lights. The bathroom was very large with 2 sinks and plush towels, a large shower area.
We were unable to enter Antigua harbor due to high winds. Our captain judiciously chose to spend a day at sea sailing toward St. Maarten. We enjoyed an impromptu lecture by our resident naturalist.
