Viking Sky's cruise from Bergen, Norway to Reykjavik was a terrific first taste of the Viking ocean product. We've taken over 50 ocean cruises in our almost 40 years of cruising, and this was very memorable and one of the recent best. You can't beat the spaciousness of the ship and attention to detail. There are so many places - nooks and hideaways to enjoy the scenery and a good book. And they have books and books and books, unlike so many of the newer ships. Yes, it is pricier than some of the competitors, but the overall value is tough to beat. My husband and I loved the sauna, steam room and ice room - all for free. Excellent food, and beer or wine with lunch and dinner. The service was extremely friendly without hovering and all of the staff made every effort to ensure a pleasant time. We had a very early return flight and had to order a hot breakfast room service for 3:00AM. Not a problem, delicious and beautifully presented. That's unheard of on most modern ships. It's the type of cruise that an experienced, destination oriented travelor will love. There aren't the distractions of a casino and photographers and children under 18 on these ships. We found the all balcony rooms to be lovely and well thought out. There was plenty of clever storage space - enough for a world cruise. A free shore excursion in every port was another plus.
We loved the entire experience from embarkation through the gyro afternoon sandwich day to any easy disembarkation in Reykjavik. My only regret is that until Viking adds more different itineraries during the summer (I'm a public school teacher) we may not be cruising with them.
Excellent, with great storage space and an open feel.
Loved this port for the excellent hiking opportunites. We did a 7 mile loop up the mountains to a waterfall. Lovely.
Nice town, we did another hike.
