It was one of the few cruises that visited Shetland. I have watched the television series of the same name and I wanted to see the setting first hand.

This was my first Viking Cruise and I would put it in the same category with Cunard. I enjoyed the relaxed less formal atmosphere. The cabin was comfortable and the room attendants provided excellent service. The cuisine in all the dining rooms was exceptional; my sister and I especially enjoyed The Chef's Table and Manfredi's. We appreciated the outstanding wine recommendations that the sommeliers provided and the staff's table service was commendable. In fact it is hard to imagine how the pleasant service of the staff could be any better. We had several favorites at the restaurants and bars.

The included tours covered more of the sights than I expected and the optional tours were a good value. I recommend the Rugged Beauty of the North tour on Shetland (especially if you are a fan of the television show).
