We chose this cruise for the itinerary: Majestic Fjords & Vibrant Cities (from Bergen to Copenhagen). We wanted to see what Viking was like and enjoyed our experience enough to book a river cruise in the future.
Embarkation in Bergen was simple and efficient. The ship is quite lovely. After the first night, I felt that the bed was a bit too hard for me and we when we told the stateroom attendant--she got us a foam mattress pad. It was perfect. The heated bathroom floor was an extra plus.
We utilized some the the included tours, added some optional ones and also explored some places on our own. Yes, the included tours are either walking ours on on buses.
The cabin was great. Roomy and comfortable. I loved the heated bathroom floor.
This was a bus trip around the Bergen area.
We took the Voss to Flam railroad tour. It was great, except for four people on our bus who missed the train trip. When we were eating lunch (just ok), our guide told us to meet in two hours. She was adamant that if were were late, we would miss the train trip. Since it was raining, we just took our time during lunch. Good thing we didn't go exploring. After less than an hour, the guide flew into the room and announced she had made a mistake about the time the train left. We had to get up and literally run across the tracks. Four people on our bus had gone exploring. And yes, they did miss the train ride and had to be bussed back.
We used Rodne. The ship docks about a block from them and costs less.
We bought the Oslo card and used public transportation to get to where we wanted to go.
We went to the Voergaard Manor House.
We booked directly with Hamlet and saved about $45 per person. (We also had the Copenhagen card for entry into the museums.) While no lunch was included--none of us spent that much on eating. We toured the castles of Northern Zeeland.
