We were looking for a cruise to fit in a small window of time. Our travel agent had been a Viking employee, so he booked us on a cruise of the Rhône in southern France. We thoroughly enjoyed the cruise! The accommodations were comfortable, the food plentiful and delicious, and the ‘free’ wine and beer with lunch and dinner and mimosas with breakfast were generously served. The daily included excursions were excellent and the offerings of additional excursions plentiful and also excellent. Beginning the cruise in ancient Arles, where Van Gogh painted, cut off his ear and was hospitalized, was an impressive place to start. Throughout the week we walked many cobblestone streets, heard interesting historical and cultural facts from well-trained English speaking guides, most of whom had a great sense of humor and enjoyed marvelous views. The tour ended in Lyon, with a mixture of old and impressive modern structures.

This was our first Viking cruise. We were so impressed, we’ve already booked a Mediterranean Ocean cruise for November.
